Diponegoro University, better known by the acronym Diponegoro University, is a university in Central Java, Indonesia which was established in 1956 as a new private university and community college status in 1961. Diponegoro words taken from a national hero who is a prince from Central Java, which waged a spirit of independence from Dutch colonialism in the early acts of the 18th century. This spirit helped inspire the establishment of Diponegoro University.

Related to relations between Indonesia and Malaysia are heating up, in August 2009, college president Susilo Wibowo said that Diponegoro University Malaysia has stopped accepting students for the academic year 2009-10.

History

Establishment of Diponegoro University, beginning in 1956 initiated beginning with the establishment of the Foundation University of Semarang. The figures who initiated the founding of the University of Semarang is Mr. Imam Bardjo, Mr. Soedarto, Mr. Sulaiman and Mr. Soesanto Kartoatmodjo.

Semarang University officially opened on January 9, 1957. Given a very young age with the education infrastructure is still very limited in that time can be opened educational institutions with the Academy of State Administration Mr. Dean first. Goenawan Goetomo, Academy of Tata's first Dean of Commerce with Drs. Sien Tjioe Kiong, Technical Academy which later became the first Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ir. Soemarman.

On the third anniversary ceremony of the University of Semarang on January 9, 1960 President Dr. Ir. Soekarno change the name to the University of Diponegoro University, Semarang, as the appreciation of Semarang University for his achievements in coaching field of higher education in Central Java. University (private) declared as the State University of Diponegoro, starting on October 15, 1960. Date is then set as the birthday of Diponegoro University. At that time Faculty-Faculty that has stood the Faculty of Law and Public Knowledge, School of Economics, Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science Teacher Training & Education.

Diponegoro University disenaraikan as the 100th best university in Asia since the 1980s, and established cooperation with 12 universities in Malaysia. [2]

Human Resources

Currently, UNDIP supported by adequate human resources quality. In September 1998, UNDIP already has 1750 academic staff and administrative staff in 1065. In late September 1998, the number of registered students is 24 424. Student teacher ratio than in the ideal number 1: 14. This figure does not include freelance and part-time lecturers. UNDIP offers many majors. In the total of 10 faculties, there are 21 departments and 68 courses that are relevant to the needs of communities around the campus. Student Press

LPM Hayamwuruk

LPM is Hayamwuruk Student Press Institute, Faculty of Letters, Diponegoro University. Standing on March 16, 1983. The first time named MUTATIONS, in 1985 renamed Hayamwuruk. Managing Hayamwuruk magazine, newsletter and also Hawe Post online news site. Besides publishing, also held a discussion of authorship, book, talk shows, with the actual range of topics among the students and the general public.

Although structurally under Dekanat, the organization was able to present a credible and balanced information. For publishing, LPM Hayamwuruk not receive assistance from both rectorate Dekanat. Source of funds derived from the issuance of student funds. Funds from the College (DIPA) amounting to Rp 750ribu per semester is used to support activities nonpenerbitan.

However, it funds from new students meet approximately 60% for publication. The downside is closed from ad revenue, sales of some magazines (for students of Literature Undip free) and manager self financing. Therefore, LPM Hayamwuruk receive cooperation from all parties, whether for advertising in magazines, newsletters or online sites, and also cooperation nonpenerbitan such discussions, book review, training of authorship and so forth.

LPM Hayamwuruk got a gift from ISAI (Institute of Information Stusi Flow) as the first nominee best alternative press magazine in 1997 followed by the Hall students (UGM) and the campus newspaper Warta Ubaya (IKIP Surabaya, so now the Surabaya State University). Assessment criteria include the themes that worked out, the depth news, news sources and balance.

In early January 2005 LPM Hayamwuruk Workshop Student Press literary journalism throughout Indonesia. This event was attended by 30 managers of the press students from various universities in Indonesia that have been selected in advance to get a scholarship for a week training at the hotel Dibya Castle, an old hotel complexes around the Old City of Semarang. This activity is supported by Tifa Foundation as a funder, the Foundation Monitor that sends istruktur, ISAI and numerous print and electronic media both locally and nationally. As a follow up of these activities was established literary journalism discussion community.

LPM Manunggal

LPM Manunggal Diponegoro University Press is the oldest institution, founded in August 1980.
